Title: cupcakes
Rating: pg
Summary: Shinwoo doesn't understand. He really doesn't. All he wanted when he woke up this morning, were some cupcakes. He has no idea how he went from happily baking his sweet treats, to sleeping on Jinyoung's couch.
Author's Note: i just wanted to write about cupcakes and this is what happened. thanks to
seulongoppa for helping me with a few ideas. and also thanks to
pikagyu for making me squash my desire to make it a full length fic.
friday morning (in other words, the beginning of the story)
Shinwoo groaned as his alarm went off, loud and blaring.
He grumbled as he reached over to turn off the offending noise.
"Ahh!"
Maybe he should open his eyes first.
He slowly opened his eyes, rubbing the last bit of sleep from them, before reaching up on his night stand to find his glasses.
Slipping them on, he got up from the floor and threw his blanket back on the bed, before just standing there to let his brain wake up.
"Wait a second, I don't even have classes on Fridays."
He let out a slightly frustrated sigh as he facepalmed, heading for the bathroom to clean up.
After freshening up and getting dressed for the day, Shinwoo walked to the kitchen, his stomach grumbling along the way.
He opened the refridgerator to look over the contents. Nothing.
He then went to the cabinets.
Vinegar, coffee, honey, peanut butter.....cake mix! Perfect.
He'd make cupcakes.
After 15 minutes of rummaging around in his kitchen for the proper cupcake making equipment, Shinwoo had only gotten as far as measuring out the water when his cellphone rang.
He could hear the girl group song playing from his phone. Sandeul must've changed it earlier this week when he wasn't paying attention.
He ran to his room to pick up before it got to voicemail.
"Hyung! What's up?"
Shinwoo pulled the phone away from his ear. Didn't Sandeul know how to use a phone?
"I'm making cupcakes right now so-"
He couldn't even finish his sentence before Sandeul was shouting into the phone.
"Cupcakes?! Perfect! I'll grab everyone else and we'll be right over after classes!"
Click, and the call was over.
Shinwoo sighed as he dropped his phone on the bed.
No use trying to stop them from coming over.
friday afternoon
It was exactly 12:00 when Shinwoo's friends came over, the apartment was now filled with noise.
Gongchan smiled, delighted with himself, as he braided Shinwoo's hair and decorated it with pretty bows.
"Don't you feel pretty now hyung?" He asked.
But Shinwoo wasn't paying attention, as he was yelling at Baro who was yelling at Sandeul who was currently mixing bowl after bowl of cupcake mix, getting mix all over the once clean kitchen.
They'd arrived at his apartment excited about making cupcakes, but one look in the kitchen at the limited supplies had them running to the store.
Now they were making as many baked goods as possible that would fit in the oven.
"Sandeul! Don't stir too fast or there'll be too much air when it's finished!" Baro made a grab for the mixing bowl in Sandeul's arms, but he missed.
The bowl fell to the floor, spilling mix everywhere.
"Look what you did Baro!" Sandeul shrieked.
"YAH!" Shinwoo stood up before storming towards the kitchen.
He stopped and looked around with wide eyes, before balling his fists, preparing to take someone out.
*ding*
The oven timer went off.
Shinwoo's mouth hung open, as he temporarily forgot what he was going to say.
"Yay! Time to take those out and put the new ones in~~!" Gongchan jumped up from the living room, completely forgetting his lap was full of colorful hair accessories.
They fell unceremoniously to the floor as he ran excitedly into the kitchen.
Just then, the door opened.
"Hey guys! Sorry i'm late. Biology let out late, but I got your text Baro, and I picked up some icing and sprinkles on the way over."
Jinyoung smiled as he walked into the kitchen.
"Yay! Time to decorate~~!" Gongchan ran from the kitchen to snatch the store bag from Jinyoung's hands, before heading back to the kitchen.
Jinyoung chuckled as he walked up to Shinwoo.
"Someone's excited."
He put a hand on Shinwoo's shoulder.
"You still get cable right hyung?"
Shinwoo finally realized his mouth was still hanging open. He closed it before slowly nodding, then walking towards the sink to get a clean dishcloth.
WIthout a word, he started cleaning.
Jinyong stepped over the forgotten fallen hair accessories, before plopping down on the couch and flipping to the sports channel.
Almost an hour later, Shinwoo sighed.
He'd just finished cleaning the mess in his kitchen, when he smelled something funny.
Sniffing the air a few more times, he questioned the others in his apartment.
"Hey guys, do you smell that?"
Jinyoung shrugged from his spot on the couch.
"Nope. What does it smell like hyung?"
Before Shinwoo could answer though, Gongchan did.
"Fire!" Gongchan shouted as he got up from the table, where he'd previously been decorating cupcakes.
Immediately, everyone was alert, looking towards the kitchen.
Baro and Sandeul had both been slumped over at the table.
Instead of helping decorate, they decided to have a cupcake eating contest. But after three each, they couldn't eat anymore.
Now, they were awake and alert.
"Fire?! Where?!" Baro yelled, getting up too quickly and hitting his knee on the table.
"OW!"
"Yah, I think a fire is more important than your knee!" Sandeul shouted at him.
"Fire!!!" Shinwoo shouted. He pulled open the oven, and almost instantly black smoke filled the room.
"OMG!" He yelled, pointing at the oven display. "Who put the temperature to 480 degrees?! Why did no one take this out 40 minutes ago?!"
"Calm down Shinwoo hyung!" Jinyoung yelled from the living room. "We all need to leave now!"
Jinyoung pushed everyone out Shinwoo's front door to get away from the fire as quickly as possible.
Shinwoo could only shake his head and watched as more and more smoke poured from his apartment window.
friday night
And that's how he ended up here, on Jinyoung's couch.
He sighed and slumped further into the couch cushions.
"I said I was sorry hyung. I figured they'd bake faster if I changed the temperature and left them in longer." Jinyoung apologized once again from the other side of the couch.
Shinwoo glared at him. "I'm never leaving you unattended in my house when using the oven anymore."
"Well just look at it this way, you can stay at my place for however long you need before moving back into your apartment."
Shinwoo sighed again before grabbing the remote to turn the tv on.
"Argh! Why don't you have cable yet?!" He yelled, throwing the remote in Jinyoung's direction.
"Hyung!" Jinyoung screamed before jumping behind the couch to hide.
